These Sumo Citrus Mojo-Style Wings are a zesty and delicious twist on the classic. Made with a tangy Cuban-style mojo sauce using Sumo Citrus juice, these wings are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor without the added oil. Delicious for a fun and easy dinner, a crowd-pleasing appetizer, or a game day snack.

Ingredients

2 lbs chicken wings (flats & drumettes)

¼ cup + 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed Sumo Citrus juice, divided

2 tablespoons lime juice

1 tablespoon pure honey

8 cloves of garlic, finely minced or 1 tablespoon garlic paste

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons dried oregano

2 teaspoons dried parsley

Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Use a paper towel to pat the chicken wings dry. Place the wings into a large bowl and add the ¼ cup Sumo Citrus juice, lime juice, honey, garlic, oil, dried oregano, dried parsley, and salt/pepper- to taste. Use your hands (fitted with disposable gloves, if desired) to massage everything into the wings to fully coat.
  2. Then cover the bowl and place the wings into the refrigerator to marinate for at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.
  3. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400°F. Take the wings out of the fridge and toss in the baking powder. Use tongs and toss to fully coat wings.
  4. Then add the wings into the air fryer, careful not to overcrowd the basket, work in batches if you need to (this will depend on the size of your air fryer). Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook the chicken wings for 20 minutes, flipping the wings at the halfway mark. I find 20 minutes to achieve nice and crispy wings, but feel free to add on a few more minutes until the wings reach your desired level of crispness.
  5. Place the crisp wings into a large, clean bowl. Drizzle the reserved 1 tbsp Sumo Citrus juice over wings and toss the wings to fully coat.
  6. Serve chicken wings immediately. Enjoy!
