Orange Jello, cottage cheese, citrus segments, marshmallows, and whipped topping – these seemingly disparate ingredients when paired together create a truly delicious (and addictive) concoction.

The creaminess of the cool whip complements the tanginess of the cottage cheese and the sweetness of the citrus segments and orange Jello. You can add pineapple as well, or pecans for a nice crunch!

Adding Sumo Citrus rather than canned mandarins adds freshness and really makes the citrus flavor pop. Sumo Citrus specifically is one of the sweetest citruses, making it the perfect addition to this citrus ‘fluff’. There are many variations of this recipe you can try to suit your flavor palate and dietary needs. This citrus salad makes the perfect snack, dessert, or dish to pass at a gathering that guests are sure to polish off. You can also use alternative versions of ingredients – like sugar-free jello or fat-free cottage cheese and whipped topping to suit your dietary needs.

Ingredients

1 8 oz container of frozen whipped topping, thawed

1 3 oz packet of orange gelatin mix

1 lb small curd cottage cheese

2 Sumo Citrus, supremed *see notes

Optional additions:

1 cup mini marshmallows

½ cup chopped pecans

14 oz drained, crushed pineapple

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together whipped topping and orange gelatin packet.

Stir in cottage cheese, Sumo Citrus, and additional toppings until the mixture is combined.

Cover and chill for at least an hour for the best texture and flavor.

Notes:

How to supreme a Sumo Citrus: Slice off the top and bottom of the citrus. Stand upright on a cutting board and carefully cut off skin and pith. Slice along the membrane to separate each wedge.

If you don’t like the texture of cottage cheese you can blend it instead for a smoother, less lumpy texture.
